Marti Fenton is a self taught artist. She has used drawing and painting to express experience since early childhood. For Marti, art has always been a doorway to the spirit world, and a way of communing with the essence of creation. Above everything Marti is interested in the Spiritual Matrix of life. She has studied Eastern and Western spiritual traditions from her early teens, but feels the strongest heart connection with the Native American Source. In addition she has a long term interest in Astrology and the Western Mystery Tradition, and all the historically suppressed and hidden indigenous traditions of many times and peoples.

The human soul is the richest canvas of all. Marti is a student of Archetypal and Transpersonal Psychology, ,Eastern and Western Spiritual traditions Mythology and all that pertains to the unfolding of Humankind's relationship with Mother Earth and the Cosmos. Although art has always been a natural form of expression for Marti, is was not until she moved to Taos New Mexico in 1992 that many seemingly separate threads of her past began to reveal a coherent design. During a difficult time of transition, she began to receive images from a deeply buried, and long dormant way of relating to life. These images are guiding symbols of her future path transposed over and interlocking with images from the past. Painting is simply a way of dreaming the world.

Paintings combine symbols, dreams, concepts and experiences that can't be adequatly expressed in words. Often they do not reveal their meaning even to the artist for some time after the image is painted.

After an image is born it truly has a life of it's own, including it's own purpose and destiny. When the image is ready to come forth, the artist begins to receive its story in words as well as visual design. She must write and sketch these down quickly before they fade like a dream fades upon waking. At other times the image comes forth over a period of time and undergoes changes that continue to inform the artist.

In recent years Marti has been learning and practicing web design. With her first modern computer she recognized the potential for a global neighborhood and for awakening the grid of collective consciousness. Marti is also an amateur astrologer.
