Lightning cuts through the darkness. In a flash it reveals the landscape below leaving the memory of what lies in the dark. It is power unleashed and in the ancient world a mysterious but powerful force unique in nature. In truth it was supernatural and attributed to acts of the gods. Lightning crosses all barriers and shocks us into vision, or knocks us out of our skin.
